Crime Patrol is an Indian reality television show and is aired on Sony Entertainment Television India and Sony Entertainment Television Asia. Show presents dramatized version of crime cases occurred in Indian. The series was first premiered on May 9, 2003 and aired every Friday at 10:30pm IST for 1 hour.^[1] Subramaniam S Iyer is the director of the show. It was hosted by Diwakar Pundir who later was replaced by Shakti Anand. The second season of the series broadcast on January 26, 2010, and was presented by known Indian television actors Anoop Soni and Saakshi Tanwar. Unlike the first season, the second season aired 4 days a week on every Monday - Thursday at 8:30pm IST.^[2] Currently season 4 titled Crime Patrol Dastak is being aired and is hosted by Anoop Soni.^[3] Season 4 has aired the infamous Baby Falak case.

Concept [edit]

Motto of the show is "Crime never pays". According to host Anoop Soni, the basic idea behind such a reality show was to make viewers aware of the criminal activities occurring in their neighbourhoods and how they can protect themselves. It dramatizes real-life crime and events and details how the police went about solving the case.

Season 1 [edit]

Season 1 was telecasted in 2003.^[4] It aired from May 9, 2003 to March 3, 2006.

Season 2 [edit]

January 26, 2010 - June 24, 2010. Season 2 started on May 6, 2013. Juhi Chawla appeared in the first episode of the show along with Anoop Soni the main presenter of the show. It was also her debut on television.^[5] Sakshi Talwar also presented the show.^[4]

Season 3 [edit]

Season 3 started on September 24, 2010.^[6] It was aired till December 25, 2010

Season 4 [edit]

April 29, 2011 – Present. Show is telecasted 3 times in a week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Anoop Soni is the presented of the show.

Delhi gang-rape case [edit]

On January 11, 2013 and January 12, 2013 Crime Patrol was to air a special episode focusing on the 2012 Delhi gang rape case but Information and Broadcasting Ministry of India intervened and asked Sony Entertainment Television not to telecast it keeping in mind the sensitivity involved.^[7][8][9]

Om Prakash Chautala teacher recruitment scam [edit]

Sony TV was to air episodes based on Om Prakash Chautala teacher recruitment scam in the show. On February 22 Delhi High Court restrained Sony TV from telecasting the related episodes till April 4, upon the appeal by Chautala and others as the case was still in court and there was a possibility of a bias of the show on case.^[10] On Mar 2, 2013, show was given clearance by High court.^[11] However, clearance was challenged in Supreme Court and on March 6, 2013 shows was again put on hold.^[12] On May 3, 2013 Supreme Court allowed Sony TV to telecast episodes as the trial was complete and judgment of conviction and sentence are in public domain.^[13][14]
