This is a list of the 100 tallest buildings in the world whose 85% or more of its total floor area is dedicated to hotel use. [1]
Many of the tallest hotel buildings in the world are located in the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. The tallest hotel building is the 355 m (1,165 ft) JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, opened on 11 November 2012 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, surpassing the 333 m (1,093 ft) Rose Rayhaan by Rotana opened in 2009. All of the latter hotel buildings are located in Dubai, the city that is currently home to the world's five tallest hotel buildings.

Ranking criteria and alternatives [edit]
The non-profit international organization Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), formed in 1969, decides which structure is "The World's Tallest Building" and sets the standards by which buildings are measured. It maintains a list of the 100 tallest completed hotel buildings in the world.[2] As of February, 2013 the council ranked JW Marriott Marquis Dubai as the tallest hotel, reaching a height of 355 m (1,165 ft).[2]
Council on Tall Buildings and Irban Habitat insist that 'a building should only be added to the official tallest list when it is:
- Topped out structurally.
- Fully clad.
- Open for business, or at least partially open.
And this became the CTBUH official definition of a building’s “completion”.[3]
Completed or topped out [edit]
This list ranks both completed as well as topped out hotel buildings that stand at least 150 m (492 ft) tall, based on standard height measurement.
