Norton Rose is a London, United Kingdom-based,^[4] international legal practice offering a full business law service to many of the world's pre-eminent financial institutions and corporations from offices in Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Central Asia. Norton Rose is one of the five largest international legal practices, with around 2,900 lawyers in 43 offices.^{[citation needed]}

Norton Rose is the business name for the international law firm that comprises Norton Rose LLP, Norton Rose Australia, Norton Rose Canada LLP, Norton Rose South Africa (incorporated as Deneys Reitz Inc), and their respective affiliates.

In November 2012, Norton Rose announced that it will combine with the American law firm Fulbright & Jaworski on 1 June 2013 to form Norton Rose Fulbright.^[5]

Norton Rose was founded in London in 1794. Norton Rose has grown its international practice, opening offices through organic growth in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

September 2007 - Norton Rose converted to a limited liability partnership structure.

January 2010 - Deacons Australia joined Norton Rose and became Norton Rose Australia.

June 2011 - Norton Rose expands with the addition of two entities: Norton Rose Canada (formerly Ogilvy Renault LLP) and Norton Rose South Africa (formerly Deneys Reitz).

January 2012 - Norton Rose enters Latin America and Central Asia for the first time, and strengthens existing capabilities in Canada and Russia, following the merger with Canadian law firm Macleod Dixon LLP.

In November 2012, Norton Rose announced that it would be joining forces with the U.S. law firm Fulbright & Jaworski, to form Norton Rose Fulbright, effective 1 June 2013.^[5] This merger was driven by the desire of Norton Rose to enter the American legal market.^[4]

Corporate affairs [edit]

Norton Rose is led by global chief executive Peter Martyr, who will retain this title after the planned merger with Fulbright & Jaworski in 2013.^[4] The company's board is led by Norman Steinberg as global chairman.^[4]

The firm is structured as an association of partnerships which maintain separate financial structures but which participate in managing the global enterprise; the 2013 merger with Fulbright & Jaworski will take the form of introducing Fulbright as an additional associated partner.^[4]
