Solaire Resort & Casino (formerly known as Solaire Manila) is a world class integrated resort complex which includes a five-star hotel with 500 rooms, it is the first casino and hotel located in the Entertainment City complex along the Bay City area of Parañaque City, Philippines. It was opened on March 16, 2013.^[1]

Overview [edit]

Solaire Resort & Casino is the first development to break ground in the state-owned Entertainment City. The 120-hectare (300-acre) reclaimed area has been designated as a special economic zone by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.^[2]

The project serves as the flagship endeavor of Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Incorporated (formerly Bloombury Investments Holdings Inc) headed by maritime port magnate Enrique K. Razon Jr., chairman of Manila-based company, International Container Terminal Services Incorporated.^[3] The project was given a investment of $1.2 billion.^[4]

After Resorts World Manila was built on August 2009, the Philippine Government wanted to add more casino-resort complex to attract more tourists around the world. Thus, PAGCOR awarded the license to Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Incorporated in 2009, It was launched as "Solaire Manila". It broke ground on July 2010. The hotel tower topped off last June 2012 alongside the parking garage. Phase 1 was completed on the last quarter of 2012. On October 2012, Solaire Manila was renamed "Solaire Resort & Casino". On March 16, 2013 3:00PM, The complex was inaugurated by President Benigno Aquino III, Enrique Razon Jr., PAGCOR Chairman Cristino Naguiat and Paranaque Mayor Jun Bernabe in a button pressing ceremony after the ceremony, Live concerts were held at the Eclipse Lounge.

Development [edit]

The complex, covering a total of 8.3 hectares (21 acres), houses a 5-star hotel with 500 rooms and a 1,000-seat grand ballroom. The complex includes 18,500 square metres (199,000 sq ft) gaming area containing 1,200 slot machines and 300 gaming tables. The complex features world-class convention facilities as well as leisure, live entertainment, dining and retail hubs.^[5] The construction for the expansion has started. This will create more VIP gaming space, A Broadway with 1,800 seats and retail space of 60,000 square meters. It will also add more 300 suite rooms and add some more restaurants.^[6]

Solaire Resort & Casino will be managed under a five-year contract by American firm Global Gaming Asset Management,^[7] which owns a 9 percent stake in the project.^[8] Solaire Resort & Casino was designed by architect and designer Paul Steelman of Las Vegas based Steelman Partners ^[9] with interior design provided by Steelman Partners affiliate company DSAA (Dalton, Steelman, Arias & Associates) and the interior lighting design by affiliate shop12. ^[10]
