WatchESPN (formerly ESPN Networks) is an Internet television website from ESPN Inc. that simulcasts ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Goal Line, and ESPN Buzzer Beater for select cable television subscribers and is the exclusive platform for ESPN3 broadcasts. The service is also available in Brazil.

On October 25, 2010, Time Warner Cable became the first cable television provider to offer subscribers to ESPN access to a simulcast of the channel through the a website called "ESPN Networks."[1] On November 22, 2010, Bright House Networks became ESPN Networks second simulcast video provider.[2] Simulcasts of ESPN2, ESPNU ESPN Goal Line, and ESPN Buzzer Beater were added to the ESPN Networks website on January 25, 2011 for subscribers to those channels.[3] Verizon FiOS TV customers began receiving access to simulcasts on the ESPN Networks website on February 17, 2011.[4] A mobile app called WatchESPN, was launched through the App Store (iOS) on April 7, 2011, and the Android Market (now Google Play) on May 9, 2011 allowing subscribers to watch simulcasts of channels based on their subscription.[5][6] On August 31, 2011, the ESPN Networks website was rebranded as WatchESPN to mirror the mobile app's name.[7] On May 8, 2012, Comcast added simulcast service for Xfinity TV customers on WatchESPN.[8] On August 28, 2012, Midcontinent Communications added simulcast access on WatchESPN.[9] Charter Communications added access to the service in mid-February 2013.[10]

Distribution of simulcasts are only available to subscribers of the respective cable television networks to customers of Bright House Networks, Midcontinent Communications, Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Verizon FiOS TV, and Xfinity TV (formerly Comcast Digital Cable). ESPN3, however, is available through Internet service providers.

Website [edit]
WatchESPN allows fans to switch among up to 20 events in a main viewing window, although this is far more than most home viewers' bandwidth can handle. Video can be viewed in widescreen (16:9) and normal (4:3) views and can be expanded to full screen or reduced to a compact size. Recently completed events are archived and available for on-demand replay. The WatchESPN player additionally features the following four modules: Featured Events, Stats, Chat 140 section, and Facebook connect. The Featured Events module shows fans all the highlighted live and upcoming events on WatchESPN. The Stats section features stats from the event being watched in the player. The Chat 140 section allows fans to chat about the action with other fans watching the event. Lastly, the Facebook module connects fans to their Facebook profile and allows them to both post about the event they're watching on their wall and discuss the event with other Facebook fans.
Xbox Live [edit]
An app for accessing WatchESPN is available for download to for the Xbox 360 with Xbox Live Gold subscriptions through Xbox Live Marketplace.
