MTV Splitsvilla, is an Indian television reality show that airs on MTV India. The series is based on the American dating reality show Flavor of Love. The 6th season is being hosted by Sherlyn Chopra who will be accompanied by Nikhil Chinappa it is scheduled to start May 25th 2013 Saturday 7:00pm.

Season 1 [edit]

The season 1 was hosted by VJ Rannvijay Singh, the winner of MTV Roadies Season 1. In this season, two boys, Varun Saini, a former participant of MTV Roadies 5.0 and Vishal Karwal, of MTV Roadies 4, find the ultimate girl of their dreams by choosing from 20 girls by putting them through grueling "tests". The girls battle stress, politics, exhaustion, fear, bitchiness and other such emotional challenges to be the chosen one and avoid humiliation of getting dumped. The girl who is dumped leaves the show and goes back home. In this manner, a winner is selected by elimination.

Of the final three (Shraddha, Heena and Prianca), Shraddha emerged as the winner and became the queen of "Splitsvilla". Shraddha then goes on to choose Vishal. Though the decision wasn't finally Shraddha's. Vishal, the champion was challenged by Varun, the challenger. They had to fight over 3 contests and the winner of 2 out of 3 was to be declared the ultimate winner. Vishal came out a clear winner by winning the first two in which the first victory saw Vishal beating Varun in Varun's territory.

Winners Shraddha and Vishal got to host a weekly show on MTV India, titled MTV Couplesutra which is a 10-minute show in which they discuss one "reel-life"^{[clarification needed]} couple, one real-life couple and one break-up. Prianca joined an acting school in Mumbai. Bianca and Simran appeared in "Bechaare Zameen Par" (a take on the Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par which was aired on MTV). Vishal currently plays the male lead in the show "Rishtonse Badi Pratha" aired on Colors TV.

Season 2 [edit]

The Season 2 of Splitsvilla had 10 boys and 10 girls selected from auditions. This season was hosted by MTV India VJ Nikhil Chinappa.

Episode 1 [edit]

All boys reached splitsvilla in casa colvale, Goa. After enjoying there for some time, the girls enter the villa. They talk with each other and try to build a connection. Later a party is held and the boys and girls are asked to get into pairs. After that nikhil asked them all whom they'd like to ask for a date. Mohit and Joanna get maximum votes, and end up becoming the king and queen of the villa.

Dumping ground [edit]

The king & queen had a special chair in the dumping ground. After voting to safe 2 members, Ritika got 3 votes and suyash got 2 votes and were safe. King dumped sakshi and queen dumped varun. Both left the show.

Episode 2 [edit]

The splitsvillans met with 2 more new contestants, ashutosh and sakshi pradhan.

Bajate Raho [edit]

The boys and girls were asked to vote who had the worst body among them. Shikha got 3 votes and Ashutosh got 6 votes and sent directly to the dumping zone.

Competition [edit]

They reached in a ship, for their first competition based on best body. All (except Ashutosh and Shikha) performed on a ramp and present their body to king and queen. After judgement, king & queen decided Minakshi, Cheshta, Aman and Suyash had worst body and all were sent to the dumping zone. Nikhil said the dumping zone's member will got some alone time with their king and queens.

Vodafone 2nd Chance [edit]

The next morning all 6 members of dumping ground had some alone time with the king and queen. Minakshi were seen to be angry with Mohit because of his behaviour.

Dumping Ground [edit]

The boys were too pissed because of mohit attitude and have some war of words. Shikha and aman got maximum votes and were safe from dumping. Mohit dumped Minakshi and Joanna dumped Suyash.

Episode 3 [edit]

The next morning, splitsvillians got phone instructions that this time the girls were safe from dumping ground. It also asked the boys to pair up with girls for their next competition. They formed couple like this :

5.ashutosh - stutee

Competition [edit]

Nikhil told the boys that strength and stamina will tested in this competition. The boy's respective partners had to include mud in their bodies. After that the boy will carry her and drop her into another platform where she had to collect those muds. Siddhart, aman,ashutosh defeated by meherzan,param,rahul and thus they went to dumping zone.

Back in villa [edit]

King mohit and queen joanna were sent to villa to spend some time with the splitsvillians (except Siddharth, Aman, Ashutosh). Stutee bitched about the girls to Joanna.

Vodafone 2nd chance [edit]

Siddharth, Aman, Ashutosh got a second chance with Joanna as they were put off in the dumping zone. This time Joanna reduced Ashutosh's time while dating Siddharth.

Dumping Ground [edit]

In the dumping ground, all girls were allowed to vote for safe 1 guy. Cheshta, Stutee, Shikha, Nalini voted for Aman while Ritika and Sakshi voted for Siddharth. Aman was safe from dumping. Siddharth argued with Nalini and Cheshta for not voting him. Finally Joanna dumped Ashutosh.

Dumped : Ashutosh Kataria

Siddharth and Sakshi Pradhan defeated Joanna Magee and Mohit Malhotra by one vote in the finals aired on June 14, 2009. Siddharth is a part of show MTV Stripped aired on MTV India. Joanna Magee works as a VJ at Zing Entertainment Channel. Sakshi Pradhan was later one of the Big Boss Contestants and reportedly told the show organizers to purposely eliminate her because she took a pregnancy test when she was inside the house, which turned out to be negative. She has couple of sex tapes of herself exposed on the internet.

Season 4 [edit]

The Season 4 of Splitsvilla had 4 boys and 13 girls selected from auditions. The first episode of the show was aired on December 3, 2010. This season is being hosted by MTV India VJ Nikhil Chinapa.

Format The girls were divided into 4 groups(Qabilah) which were headed by each boy.

Summary [edit]

FINALE

A roulette game based on luck was played between the three pairs of finalists: Manish and Pooja, Sai and Tina, and Dushyant and Priya. This first task was won by Sai and Tina who went directly to the finals. The second task was between Manish-Pooja and Dushyant-Priya on who would join Sai-Tina for the final task. This was an obstacle task. This was won by Dushyant-Priya who next joined Sai-Tina in the final face-off. The final task was won by Dushyant-Priya, and hence were declared the winners of Splitsvilla 4.

Season 5 [edit]

The season began at the beginning of April, with 8 girls, and eight boys. Contrary to the last two seasons, this season has been set in Uttarakhand, India. The villa is located somewhere outside the Jim Corbett National Park. Up till now, all tasks have been set in the national park. The season was hosted by Nikhil Chinapa. The season finale was aired on 24 June 2012 on MTV India. The final competition to win Splitsvilla 5 title was fought between Vroon and Jasmine as a couple and Paras and Akanksha as the other. Paras and Akanksha went on to win the title of Splitsvilla 5- Love Gone Wild.

Summary [edit]

Pilot Episode [edit]

Each contestant was introduced in individual cameos at the beginning of the pilot. Shortly after the arrival of the contestants in the villa, each member was given a prop and asked to dance using the props. The contestants were then to be rated on a scale of 10, by all the members of the opposite sex. It was later announced that the highest scorers in this competition would be able to compete to become the king and queen, and the lowest scorers would be sent into the 'dumping zone'. Shivangini and Vroon emerged as the queen and king respectively after beating Mandy and Rishabh respectively in a task. Rishi and Avishka were dumped from the show by the king and queen. The other two members in the dumping zone were Tasneem and Sikander but they were saved by the king and queen respectively.

Finale [edit]

The finale of splitsvilla was aired on 24 June 2012. At Jim Corbett National Park initially Paras and Akanksha as a team fought against Nitin and Rupa in a competition called Connected. Then, they went into finale of MTV Splitsvilla 5 to face Vroon and Jasmine. The final competition tested the strength and patience of contestants.Paras and Akanksha won the finale and Nikhil Chinapa, the host of the show declared them as the ultimate King and Queen of Splitsvilla 5 - Love Gone Wild, respectively.

Season 6 [edit]

The Season 6 of Splitsvilla:Hot As Hell has 8 hot boys and 8 spicy girls held at Kerala,India. This season is being hosted by Sherlyn Chopra who will be accompanied by Nikhil Chinappa. Aman Pahwa is the first contestant this year through the very first held Splitsvilla Battleground.

Controversies after Splitsvilla 2 [edit]

Sexual Exploitation [edit]

A month after the second season of Splitsvilla ended, some of the contestants claimed that the show’s crew members had engaged in sexual acts with other contestants.

Swaagata G Shah, a contestant from Season 2, claimed in a tabloid that there were exchanges of sexual favors between contestants and important people of the production team, including anchor Nikhil Chinappa, to get undue advantages in the contest.^[1] Later, contestants Varun Jhamb and Nalini Negi who had been eliminated early on in the show, alleged that ‘some crew members, including the director, had slept in the same room as top contender Joanna Magee, and others engaged in sexual favours, especially towards the end.'

In response, Nikhil Chinappa said, ‘I don’t want to comment on it. The channel will come out with an official statement soon. After all, it’s about the channel’s image and mine.’ Rajiv Laxman (creative director of the show) said: ‘I firmly disagree with these allegations. We have strict rules that prevent the mingling of the crew with the cast. Swagata was the first contestant to be eliminated and didn’t even spend a night at the villa. She doesn’t have any inkling of the way things work there.’

Racial Slur [edit]

One of the contestants on the show Mohit Malhotra, has been accused of using a racial slur after he called Siddharth Bhardwaj, a "Nepali with 'chinky' eyes" and the it was reported that Mohit was beaten hopelessly by a group of nepalese boys. This caused obvious discomfort to India's North East Community, many of whom have oriental facial features. Though the show is unscripted, the network and the sponsors have been accused of supporting such racial slurs by not bleeping the content after they decided to air it.^{[2][dead link]}

Another such incident took place in the fourth season, when Aakriti had a verbal fight with Payal Thapa. The racial slur that was used was beeped out and later Nikhil at the dumping ground raised the issue telling Aakriti not to "advertise her ignorance anymore" and that serious actions will be taken if it happens here after.^{[citation needed]}
